The
Mother and the Children

I
write again in this post, the Love Sunday. I want to continue this post. I like
to write in this post. But, days ago I spent
much of my time to remove my articles on the blog
gordyafri-indonesian.blogspot.com to this blog gordyafri.blogspot.com. I have
removed many articles like the love Sunday series but not remove all. Gradually
I will remove all.
Today,
in Italy we celebrated the feast of The Ascension of the Lord. This feast falls
on 40 days after the Easter. So, this feast falls on Thursday ago. In Indonesia
and in America this feast is celebrated on Thursday like in the Roman Catholic
calendar. But, here, the Italians celebrate it today. This is a habit here. No one
can cancel this difference. The Catholic Church gives respect for local culture.
I
am interested in the gospel Mt 28:16-20. Briefly, this reading tells the
relation between Jesus and his disciples. Jesus will be always them, “I am with
you always until the end of the age.” But, in another time Jesus also said that
He will leave them. This is the contrary. Yes.
Our
rector, Father Ulisse SX gives us a brief comment about this reading. He said
that the relation between Jesus and his disciples like the relation between the
mother and the children. A child need the mother, but when he is the younger,
the mother must leave him. May he grew up and have the independent.
Listen
this comment, I remember the children at St Christina Church that have received
the sacrament of Holy Eucharist (the first communion) two Sunday ago and the
other group that have received the sacrament of Confirmation on Saturday three
weeks ago.
They
are the children, but in the next ten years, they are the younger. Gradually
they will go out and don’t live with their parents.
