Be the
Light for Others

On love Sunday 3, I mentioned the great light. The
greatest light is the title of my article. Now, in Love Sunday 4, I want to
write about the light. Yes, the light again. Maybe light is always with us.
Yes, the light always with us, every moment. Every day we see the sun that is
the great light.
But, for us that live in Europa, we can’t see the sun
every day. Not like them live in Asia or maybe in Africa. In my country,
Indonesia, I almost see the sun every day except in the rain season.
Today (Sunday, 2 February 2014), in Saint Christina
Parish, I see the candles on the altar. There are two candle’s baskets. When I
entered this church, I don’t know what for these candles. I think, it means for
the people that follow the mass today. Just, Father Luciano put the candles on
the altar with certain intend.
We discuss the same candles at teaching in the sacristy.
My friend, Miss Angela explains it. She said that the candle is a symbol of
light. I agree with him and maybe you, the readers, agree. The candle is a
symbol of light. The light appears in the reading today. Simeon in the Temple
in Jerusalem and Anna see this light. The light in this contest is Jesus’s baby
that was brought in the Temple by his parents, Marry and Joseph.
Before, someone has promised to Simeon that he should not see death before
he had seen this light. Simeon and Anna are the prayers. They always
pray at the Temple. The end of their prayer is they see the light. They
certainly were happy to see it.
Before the end of the mass, father Luciano blessed the
candles and then share it for all people. He said that these candles are
symbolic of the light. We carry this light in our home. I think not also at our
home, but in our heart, our activity, our daily, and so on. This is the beauty
of life. Let us our heart, our time, full of this light. Be the light for
others.
